Today’s society instills in us a desire to want more…a bigger house, a faster car, a better smartphone, the latest and greatest hot items. We are constantly being bombarded with the lure of advertising and the glamour of what we see in the media. Our cravings to want more provoke a certain level of dissatisfaction that can leave us feeling angry, unhappy, and stressed.
In lieu of being driven by an insatiable desire to want what you think you need, focus more on the essentials that make your life good just the way it is.
The key essentials to a good life include the following:
(1) You are healthy despite a few aches and pains.
(2) You wake up in the morning with a sense of excitement.
(3) You are achieving your purpose in life.
(4) You spend quality time with friends and family who care about you.
(5) You are content with the person you have become.
(6) You have the basics: food to eat, a place to sleep, and clothing to wear.
(7) You do not allow stress and worry to tarnish your happiness.
(8) You practice gratitude on a daily basis.
(9) You go to bed being glad that you are alive.
(10) You have enough money to save for a rainy day.
(11) You have strength to keep moving forward despite your challenges.
(12) You feel an inner sense of peace that defines how you approach life.
